The 8th International Alvar Aalto Design Seminar 2016 will be organized in Jyväskylä, Finland, in August 2016. The chair of the event is professor, interior architect Simo Heikkilä. The theme of the seminar ‘MAXIMAL | MINIMAL’, brings into the stage the topical phenomenon from arts & crafts to the lighting of cities and ecologically sustainable manufacturing. See the program here.
Exhibition in the Museum of Central Finland 27.8.2016-30.9.2016.
The exhibition will consist of the prototype designs by the seminar speakers manufactured by arts & crafts colleges in Finland. The idea is to update the “master-apprentice”-method as an international project. The design task is a freely standing element, designed to store the literature chosen by the designer. The volume of the elements will be equal for all the designs. In the design it is possible to realize or combine for example the thinking of module and architecture design, or work on the basis of realizing a unique, handicraft object.
